The best laid plans...

Despite the months of preparations, I didn't go to Sydney for my vet nursing course after all.  The last 8 months have been quite eventful and situation at home prompted me to change my plans (which was a very good decision) and to pursue the course via long distance.  This also means having to spend a required number of hours at either an animal hospital, shelter or zoo.  I decided to help out at the spay/neuter clinic run by SPCA.  I have to admit that doing practical work is way more interesting than hitting the books! (i fall asleep each time i start reading my course notes!)  Unfortunately, hit the books i must.

Neko and Mikan are adapting well, although they still run helter-skelter for the bottom of the bed when the thunder and lightning come with the rains.  Here they are, large (Tiga), medium (Mikan) and small (Neko); a rare moment when all are together at one spot... :-)

The Yawning Contest

One lazy afternoon, Neko and Mikan decided to see who yawned better.  What do you think? :-)

Neko:  I am sure mine is better!

the youngest but ruling the home.. Tiga the Tai-Kor

I rescued Tiga from the neighbourhood dog which killed Tiga's brother in February this year.  They were about 4 months old then.  Tiga has since grown quite big and is able to hold his own against the same dog and Henna, our dog at home.  Tiga provokes the dogs by sitting near them and when they approach, he will smack them! Tiga decided that he likes my lap and will take every opportunity to sit on me but he is quite large so can't fit well.
He will probably rule my Neko and Mikan too! :-)

All Set!

The do-nothing-month just flashed by! I'm all packed, well almost, and my 2 Hong Kong kitties are also all set for their new adventures in tropical Malaysia and beyond.
I don't care where i am going as long as
i have my favourite cushion

Caveat emptor (am i just an ignoramus)? :p

In the last 2 weeks, I have been in a continuous battle with the cable TV and internet service provider who insist that i have to pay for a service that they claimed i signed up for but one which I have no idea i had... and one which I have been billed for the last 6 months.  (OK, my fault for not checking the monthly bill).  This came to light as I submitted the forms to terminate my services.  The odd thing is that my contract for internet services is for 1 year but this phantom service (which is supposed to be bundled with my internet) is for 2 years (up till 2013)!  Sad to say, i have been unsuccessful in getting them to explain to me why i should pay for something i didn't use.

Ripped off ...AGAIN!
It appears that it is very easy to sign up for services here in HK but difficult to terminate without all sorts of "fine prints" being invoked, which naturally will lead to additional payment (the service providers call it "termination fee"). For those here in HK, do be careful when some guy/gal calls you up to tell you that it is a service renewal - there are usually bundled services included but are not clearly explained over the phone.  Best go to the service centres in person to renew your contracts.

Anyway, this was all Neko could say ... :-)

Discoveries....

It is rather amazing how many things one can accumulate over the years (and i am not a hoarder by nature).  Question of the day:  what to send, what to donate (if at all the charities want them as they are very selective!), and what to toss? Going through my things, i discovered a cheque from the HK Securities Commission dated 2008 which i forgot to bank in, a couple of Park and Shop coupons (still valid! phew), and a few things which friends left behind when they stayed over at Hotel Pat...
Look! I found this!
Doesn't this belong
to the Rescuer-Tormentor?

Neko tries to help while Mikan who is usually the busybody, is oblivious of the going-ons and decided to snooze...
Its too hot to do anything else....
